Even with all the streaming services for films you just cannot beat the aesthetic of the move theater, that is after you get over spending enough to fill your gas tank. The bright lights, the popcorn machine roaring, and the many candy choices. Despite the various ways that people stream movies these days based on the findings it seems that films are still making substabtial money at the box office.
As of November 3, the film Terminator: Dark Fate, a product of Paramount Pictures is number one at the box office with $29,033,832 its opening weekend, being screened in 4,086 movie theaters. The film hit the theaters November 1, its total previously stated is only the money made for the film domestically in the United States, as will be the remaining films. The film coming in number two is a product of Warner Brothers Productions entitled Joker. The film has made $13,500,116 since it made it to theaters October 4 having been shown at 3,519 movie theaters across the US.
The film taking the third place slot is Maleficient: Mistress of Evil distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film has made $13,090,680 since it hit 3,820 theaters on October 18. The fourth film on the list is a product of Focus Features entitled Harriet. Of the top five films, this one is particular is only showing in 2,059 which is considerably lower than the other four films. Despite the low number of theaters showing the film, it has still made $11,676,720 during its first weekend. The last film ranking fifth is The Addams Family a product of United Artist Releasing. The film was releasesd on October 11 in 3,607 theaters and has made $8,296,007.
I was interested in this topic for my numeracy blog post becuase I have been seeing so much about the film Harriet that was released last Friday. I was interested in seeing people response to the film not just through social media, but through the numbers to see if the film was actually doing well. With all of the older films due for a reboot here in the coming year I am hoping to see that the numbers for the coming films.
